The four GST Bills had been tabled on 27.03.2017 and passed in the Lok Sabha on 29.03.2017, and in the Rajya Sabha on 6th of April 2017.
The speed with which things are being taken up clearly show the intent of the government and gives an assurance that GST is not far away, and the deadline of July 1 is a reality.
The government should not have a problem in passing the SGST bills (which are a replica of the CGST Bill) in the State Legislatures, as they have been drafted by a common consensus among the state finance ministers, who are an important part of the GST Council.
